The Cost of Spam:
![]() |
The cost of spam, just in terms of lost productivity, was estimated at $21.6 billion for the US alone according to the 2004 National Technology Readiness Survey(1). NBC News(2) had reported that "spam is on the rise" and likely doubled in 2006 because spammers continue to find more creative ways to get around spam filters. Ferris Research(3) estimated the cost of Spam for 2007 at $ 100 billion worldwide and $ 35 billion in the US alone. A recent Communications News(4) article, May 2008, on trends predicts that the “Spam volume could double in 2008.”
